If You Knew Me Back Then

I was rooting through some pictures when I came across some of me from high school. I was shocked at how high my hair was, because if memory serves me right, my hair never seemed to be big enough.

I was always fretting over getting it high, High, HIGH. I had a whole regimen of how I styled my hair. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get it to where I was somewhat satisfied. I was never fully satisfied with the height. The bigger, the better, IMO (back then).

But now looking at them, I was like, WTF was I thinking??????? How did I think that looked good?

Being in the damp sea air on the boardwalk down the Jersey shore was not friendly to a big haired girl's hairdo. So we brought banana clips to pull our hair back for a "neater" look.

Here I am in pink confection at my Prom:

  • This is exactly why I shall never post photos of me from high school online.... See how high you were able to get it? I aimed for something more asymmetrical - kind of like this young lady - http://www.flickr.com/photos/sharynmorrow/236566933/ yikes!

But Wow - yours WAS high, I bet you were the envy.... :D

Whose the boy in the picture? I like his pink tie.

This got my morning started off right - so thank you, S... Giggle.

  • My hair didn't hold a candle to the other girls' hair. And if it did, it would blow up from all the hairspray I had holding it all together.

The boy would be Kevin. The only thing I remember about him is that he had a Cougar that he'd wash everyday.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

You looked like my sister did in high school! The bigger the hair the better. I looked up to her. My hair was not like hers at all. Hers was thick and curly.. mine was/is fine and straight. The only thing big on my head was my bangs!

Love the pink dress.. with the pink pantyhose and the pink shoes!!!!

  • OMG.. we just commented the same time.. hahaha..

Do you find that funny like me?? LOL

  • Oh yeah, and the pink tie was all part of the color coordination that was so important back then. I had my shoes and purse dyed to match the dress.

I still have it all and Jess uses them to play dress up.

  • LOL, I saw your face when I thought I'd see mine. That's pretty funny that we posted at the same time.

    Maybe we're psychic or something.

  • Why am I in the mood for cotton candy?

  • Holy shit, are you wearing pink pantyhose? I LOVE YOUR DRESS. My bridesmaids will be calling you in t-minus 15 minutes.

And if I could get my hair that high now, I would.

  • *Sigh* I miss big hair. Call me a dork, but....Good times, good times. ;) Aqua Net probably misses us keeping them in the money. lol
Great picture! My Senior prom dress was similar to yours. My Junior one was peach and our stupid school served BarBQ for the pre-prom dinner. Gotta love redneck schools.

  • Shannon,

I wasn't as big on having ALL my hair big as I was about how high I could get my bangs.

I look at pictures from back then and think I looked like a rooster.

  • Ah Shannon - you were HOT - for an 80's gal LOL LOL. Thank goodness I don't have a scanner - I really have an excuse for not posting my high school pics. My high school grad pic is nasssssty. High school grad? Royal Blue grad dress with ruffles, lace and a bow on the back at the butt. Oh, and big shoulders. My shoes, which were white satin, were dyed royal blue to MATCH my dress.

I still have the dress - the armpits are stained a nasty royal purple now - must have been the armpit spray I used LMAO. It's hilarious to look at - I may have to take a pic of the dress cause I sure as hell can't fit my arse into it anymore.

Ah, the 80's. Big hair and big ruffles. Gotta love it.

  • Wow. I am in awe of your big hair. I was born with the thin, lifeless variety of hair and have always been fascinated by the textures and bounce of lively hair. *sigh*

I may not have had the hair, but I DID have lots of parachute pants!! ROCK THE CASBAH!!!
